Super sad Shaw news just in:
“Friends of La Jambe,
I’m writing to share some sad news. After more than seven years, our original Shaw location will close on September 17th. We will be shifting our focus on our Union Market location.
This was an extremely difficult and devastating decision, but the post-COVID reality no longer makes sense to keep operating. And I know you’ve heard it before, but please make sure to support small businesses, your neighborhood spot, any mom and pops shop, now more than ever, they need you!
I deeply appreciate all those who gave us a shot, and I can’t express enough how much it meant for those of you who made La Jambe your regular spot. I created a space to bring a piece of home to DC, and to showcase my beloved French products. But going into this adventure, I’d never thought how fulfilling and heartwarming the human connections I made would bring. We’ve shared so many beautiful moments that I will cherish forever. I’ve seen you my friends, making beautiful babies, celebrating your engagements/weddings, sharing your vacation stories to France or Spain on those pink and yellow lounge chairs, I’ve met your families when traveling to DC, you moved to Florida, Colorado or just out of Shaw (and we’ve missed you), you’ve supported us through Covid via online ordering and even sat at the patio on those cold winter evening just to keep us going. I wish I could name you all, but you know who you are…
This includes also the many staff who worked so hard to make this dream a reality. From the initial team to the many others who came and believed in La Jambe while trying to add their own flair—you kept this place going. I’m so lucky to have been able to create this big La Jambe family and to see you all grow from afar.
On that note, we are announcing it on the early side, so you have time to come by and give our beloved team some love before they move to another place (please reach out if you’re hiring as we’ve got some amazing people to poach).
And I would love for these upcoming 3 weeks to be a celebration of them and of what La Jambe Shaw meant to you.
Because this is not a goodbye, as I am very excited to focus on our amazing little gem at Union Market which combines all my loves, wine/cocktail bar, cheese counter (certainly timely to have just been recognized as the best place for charcuterie in town), take out and catering. I’m excited to also be more physically present there, so I hope to see some familiar faces!
Thanks to all who were a part of this mad adventure.
Avec tout mon amour,
Ana”
