Edgar
Gender: Male
Age: 5 years
Weight: 72 pounds
Species: Dog
Breed: Labrador Retriever – Black
Orphaned Since: March 1
Adoption Fee: $150

Edgar is a 70-pound “squish” of a Lab mix who throws himself around hoping that he can catch some love from an unsuspecting human. This big boy might barrel right into you, but his intentions are as pure as can be; when Edgar is coming, expect snuggles and slobbery kisses. He is incredibly messy: Where there is Edgar, there is a lot of drool. He isn’t the biggest fan of other dogs and should be the only dog in the home. Cats are OK, surprisingly. Kids should be aged 13-plus, as this rough-and-tumble boy might be too energetic for the smaller tots. He loves a challenge, so even though he’s not a swimmer, he enjoys a good water fight with a hose. He’s housetrained and likes toys that are big or squeaky. If you’re into playing hard, sleeping harder and don’t mind lots of drool, come on over to SPCA Florida and meet Edgar. Find out more at spcaflorida.org.

Simba
Gender: Male
Age: 3 years
Weight: 55 pounds
Species: Dog
Breed: Boxer/American Staffordshire Terrier – Red/Mahogany/White
Orphaned Since: May 6
Adoption Fee: $150

Simba has a big and powerful name, but he’s a shy boy who turns into an affectionate lovebug when he gets to know you. He loves people and kids of all ages. He gets along with other dogs and cats but not farm animals. Simba loves the water and knows all sorts of tricks: He can splash with his nose, cannonball and even blow bubbles. The only thing Simba loves more than water is snacks, and he’ll give you lots of slobbery kisses for a treat. His dream home might be one with an adventurous family and a pool to play in. If you’d like a forever friend who is fun, energetic and cuddly, come by SPCA Florida and see if Simba is your perfect poolside pup. Find out more at spcaflorida.org.
Nellie

Weight: 5 pounds
Species: Cat
Breed: Domestic Shorthair – Tortoise
Orphaned Since: June 6
Adoption Fee: $50

Nellie is a sweet, young Southern belle who arrived at SPCA Florida in June with her two sisters. At first, she was quite shy, but she’s now eager to greet people. She enjoys being petted and playing with wand feather toys. Nellie is comfortable with other cats and people of all ages, though she prefers quiet seniors with whom he can share a comfy couch. Nellie’s favorite treat is rotisserie chicken. She’s very frightened of thunder and prefers to wait out storms in a dark, silent place. In a quiet home, she will continue to blossom and return the love of a patient guardian. Stop in SPCA Florida and meet her. Find out more at spcaflorida.org.
Water might be fun for your dogBut dangers are everywhere. Here are some safety tips
Baby Boo
Gender: Female
Age: 11 years
Weight: 20 pounds
Species: Cat
Breed: Domestic Shorthair – Black
Orphaned Since: May 31
Adoption Fee: $50

Baby Boo might have been grumpy with everyone in the past, but she’s sweet as can be now. The doctor figured out she was having arthritis pain and didn’t want anyone touching her. Now she’s on medication and feels like a natural kitty. She loves to bounce around and play again, chasing strings and lasers. She’s even happier getting rubs on the head and chin. She’s still not a lap cat, but she will be content to nap by you all day. She likes to eat and will sit by her food bowl gazing longingly at the food and then at you to see if you’re going to give her any. She’s 20 pounds and still needs to watch her weight. She should be the only pet in the home, and kids should be ages 13-plus. If you’re looking for a big, beautiful gal to stay by your side all day, come to SPCA Florida and ask to see Baby Boo.
