Fall has arrived! Temperatures for the beginning of the work week will be in the upper-60s to low-70s. Going into Monday, partly cloudy conditions are expected but could see more sun during the day.
More partly cloudy conditions into Tuesday, but mostly cloudy conditions are expected for the day. Winds will also be from the east at 10 to 15 MPH with gusts reaching 25 MPH. More partly cloudy conditions into Wednesday with partly sunny conditions during the day. Similar story for Thursday, but winds are starting to slow down.
The weekend looks to have temperatures increasing into the upper-70s. Partly cloudy conditions are expected as we move into Saturday. A slight chance of rain exists from Friday night into Saturday. Winds are overall from an easterly or northerly direction at around 5 MPH. Heading into Sunday, mostly sunny conditions are expected, making for a great day to do your favorite fall activities!
Why do Leaves Change Color?
Turns out, the dreaded earlier sunset is your key to beautiful fall colors! Once the length of overnight darkness begins to increase, trees take notice. They stop producing chlorophyll, which is what makes leaves appear green. Beneath their chlorophyll, leaves hide other pigments, such as carotenoids, which reveal the vibrant oranges and reds of the leaves once they lose their green mask.
So, the next time you notice the sun is setting earlier than you’d like, remember that the fall colors will make up for the shorter days!
